The Retirement Guys Logo

This may come as a shock to some, but television is a business. For a television station to make money, it need to sell advertising. Sometimes, rather than simply buying and producing ads, advertisers will sponsor segments within the actual newscast. Often times this actually made for quality programming, featuring knowledgeable guests and subjects that otherwise might not have been given their due.
The Retirement Guys was a segment aimed at baby boomers trying to make sound investment choices to prepare for retirement. Viewers could call in and get advice on money matters from the sponsors who took the calls live and on-air. Christian was asked to create a logo from the segment and came up with the 50’s-inspired logo pictured above. Since the segment was targeted towards people who largely looked upon the 50’s fondly, and the name was The Retirement Guys, Christian kept it fun and kitschy. Unfortunately, before the logo could even be used, the name of the segment to The Retirement Experts, and it went a different direction. Despite the fact that the logo was never broadcast, Christian still finds the unused graphic one of his favorites.
