Nebraska Humane Society "More Than A Shelter" T-Shirt
When not busy working at his real job, Christian still occasionally makes time for side projects. This project (created by Christian and another designer, his good friend Max Riffner) was a pro-bono t-shirt design for the Nebraska Humane Society.
Every year the Nebraska Humane Society puts on an event called Cause For Paws, to not not only raise money and awareness for the shelter, but to also have a bit of a party. Participating staff members are each given new shirts to commemorate the event and make them identifiable to the general public. For the 2007 shirt Christian was asked to design a shirt that could double as a new staff shirt to be worn year-round. Given the tagline, “We’re more than a shelter, we’re a family,” Christian went to Max to help sketch out a graphic to accompany the text. Christian then used Max’s sketch to create a streamlined graphic version, laid out the text in a playful typeface, and used the shelter’s color scheme to produce the final design. Two years later, Christian still sees staff members wearing the t-shirt he designed every time he visits the shelter.
