KM3 News Stationery

When Emmis Communications bought KMTV, the station went through many changes, the most significant being a change in the station’s branding. Everything was completely reworked from the logo, to colors, to a new name: KM3 News. Once the new look was in place for the on-air graphics, Christian was put in charge of creating all other graphics to reflect and reinforce the station’s new brand.
Before becoming KM3 News, KMTV did have existing stationery, but it was rather piece-meal and not very cohesive. Christian’s goal, then, was to create stationery that not only looked good in individual pieces, but also worked together as a whole. Christian began by designing the letterhead, where he implemented a blue rule to separate the header from the text that would be printed on it. Christian then used a blue rule on all the stationery which, combined with the use of the logo and colors, helped give the stationery a cohesive feel. This was Christian’s first stationery system that he’d designed as a professional, and he feels it still holds up to this day.
