Conway-Whittle Wedding Invitation
When not busy working at his real job, Christian still occasionally makes time for side projects. This project was created by Christian and another designer, his good friend Max Riffner, as wedding present for their friend Megan Conway. They were given a low quality jpeg of a Celtic knot and the wedding colors and told to take it from there.
The first task was to recreate the knot and then design the rest of the pieces around that element. A hand drawn Irish border was also recreated then to compliment the knot, and once the typeface was decided on, the rest of the design came together rather quickly. When it came to actually printing the piece, both designers wanted to do something special for the bride-to-be. So, instead of just taking the project to a printer, they had custom engraving plates made and the piece was actually hand printed by letterpress on Irish linen. The combination of technology and hand-made craftsmanship resulted in a beautiful piece that pleased everyone involved.
