2002 Rose Bowl Animation

In 2002 Christian ventured farther into the realm of video graphics when the station purchased a license for Discreet’s 3DS Max. While Christian continued to make still video graphics, he now also had the means to create 3D graphics and animations.
The 2002 Rose Bowl animation was Christian’s first foray into the world of 3D animation. With nothing more than one day of training on the software, a 3 volume manual, and a two week deadline, Christian got to work creating an animation that would be played over the top of moving video. It was definitely a trial by fire, but the results speak for themselves. Knowing what he knows now, it probably would have been a much smoother process and the end result may have even been a touch better. However, considering what he was up against, Christian was more than pleased with the results. To this day Christian remains proud of his first 3D animation, not just because it turned out so well, but because it demonstrated his ability to create quality work under less than ideal circumstances.
